Design is much more than the amount of admiration it receives; it’s a spiral of complex beauty encompassing everything life offers. I define myself as a designer, but I do so much more than the perceived “art.” I’ve been thoroughly shaped into the role of designer with my own process of thinking; one where I can’t see the box anymore, I’ve jumped over a society placed line and I do not agree with every article.

My parents immersed me into a world of unlimited possibility, letting me experience everything. Statements like, “You’re assigned to chemistry because it’s more useful than physics in real life,” and “calculus is hard, you’re only required to take Algebra I;” are haunting. I refuse to live by the bare minimum required. Learning Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Dreamweaver and Microsoft Office, means nothing without the understanding of basic principles that make up life itself.

Three-dimensional design is my passion; I reverse engineer items I don’t understand, in my mind, to determine their movements, functions and patterns. My affinity and understanding of math and physics are a huge part of why I design my way; I feel the

ambi-cognitive switch from left to right hemisphere that lets me perfect the angle of a line or the harmony of color on a project. Becoming a package designer has never been about a career choice; it’s my lifestyle.
